The Environment Agency has issued a flood warning for Maldon waterfront and Hythe Quay this afternoon (Thursday, 19 November).

Areas most at risk are Chandlers Quay, Chelmer Terrace, the Hythe and Promenade Park.

The peak high tide is expected at 2.30pm, and the risk will continue from the current time until 4.30pm.

The warning has been issued because there is a possibility of some flooding of homes and businesses in the immediate vicinity of the affected areas.

An Environment Agency statement reads: "Flood water is dangerous. Don't put yourself or others at risk.

"We are closely monitoring the situation and are not expecting the situation to escalate, or to issue anything else for the following tide."
