Maldon's 'Safe Space' socially distanced coffee mornings started up again this week -and now there's support for establishing more of the events in other district communities.

The mornings are designed to allow people in the community with limited social contact or who are fearful of going out the opportunity to meet others in a socially distanced setting, with help and advice on hand from trained volunteers.

Run by Maldon and District CVS (Community Voluntary Service) Safe Space sessions have moved from their pre-lockdown venue at Maldon Town Hall to Fullbridge Church at Fullbridge, Maldon - postcode CM9 4LE.

Sessions were re-started on Thursday, 25 February, and will continue to run on Thursdays from 10am-11.30am. Booking is essential, with full details provided below.

A spokesperson for Maldon District CVS said: "Extra measures have been put in place to ensure that you feel comfortable and safe if you are anxious about going out.

"Staff and volunteers at the sessions will be available to chat and provide support on adjusting to the "New Normal" and help you find services and advice."

Sessions will be limited to 10 guests and no more than five volunteers. Call 01621 851891 or email: [email protected] to book a place.

Running your own Safe Space to help support local people

Maldon and District CVS would like to support others to run similar sessions across the district. To discuss the possibility contact Maldon District CVS on 01621 851891.
