Three people were fined £150 by community engagement officers for littering on Maldon High Street in October.

The details were revealed in a meeting of the town council's environment committee last night (Monday 8 November), when members received an update from the community protection team.

Lee Williams, community engagement coordinator at the district council, said two of the fines had been paid in full, while he is pursuing the outstanding fine.

He also told councillors that four people had been caught breaking the speed limit in the town by patrol officers with TruCam speed guns in October.

He said the number is lower than usual due to officers carrying out less patrols last month because the TruCam speed guns had to be "sent off for calibrating", which took two to three weeks.

The 20mph speed limit on the High Street and Market Hill became enforceable by law at the end of July, after Essex Police approved locations for the installation of TruCam speed guns in the zones.

TruCam speed guns can also be found on Spital Road, Fambridge Road, Park Drive, Mill Road, Fullbridge, St Peter's Avenue and Acacia Drive.
