Better news as the Covid infection rate continues to drop

Latest complete data from Public Health England shows that the Covid-19 infection rate for Maldon district has dropped to 326.5 cases per 100,000.

In the seven days leading up to Monday, 25 January there was a total of 212 new cases recorded in the Maldon district.

This is less than a third of the figure recorded at the start of January, when national lockdown began. In the week leading up to Monday, 4 January, Maldon recorded 708 new cases, equal to 1,089.6 cases per 100,000.

The infection rate for the whole county area has also continued to drop, with 5,882 cases recorded over the seven days to 24 January, equal to 395 cases per 100,000. Essex was recording seven-day rates in excess of 1,200 per 100,000 in the early days of the New Year.
