A popular radio station will broadcast a festive show on Maldon High Street this week to thank residents for their generous donations to the Salvation Army's Christmas present appeal.

David Baker, CEO of Chelmer Radio, will hold the special show outside the Salvation Army's charity shop, at 70c High Street, from 9am to 1pm tomorrow (23 December).

The station has worked in partnership with the Salvation Army since October last year, and has a space at its charity shop to engage with the local community.

It supported the Salvation Army's appeal to ensure no local child is without a present to open this Christmas morning, after it launched in November to ask for donations of unused gifts from residents.

David will highlight the success of the appeal, which is set to benefit more than 100 families across Maldon this Christmas, during tomorrow's show.

He said: "Our relationship with the Salvation Army as a charity and its partners continues to grow and bringing another live broadcast to the High Street highlights their amazing work and the work of the volunteering community too.

"We have lots planned with them into 2022 and thanks go out to Kevin [the shop manager] and the team for always making us so welcome."

The Maldon Grinch, who is collecting money for Macmillan this year, will also join the festive celebrations.

You can tune in to the broadcast tomorrow here.
