A popular Maldon heritage centre is set to reopen to visitors tomorrow (Tuesday, 8 February), with an exhibition showcasing local artists.

The Maeldune Centre exhibition, which will be open until the end of the month (Saturday, 26 February), includes paintings and mixed media from artists George Kowzan, Hugh Beattie, Gill Mitcham, Ailish Warner, Charlie Moore, Peter Dean and Malcolm Brown.

Lynda O'Brien, centre manager at the Maeldune Centre, said: "Visitors will receive a warm welcome from our volunteers and Maldon ambassadors.

"In addition to our exhibitions, which change every three weeks, there is a craft shop, talks on the Maldon Embroidery, local history and heritage, local history displays, Maldon Society photographic and video archives and the visitor information desk."

The 42-foot-long Maldon Embroidery consists of seven panels commemorating the 1000th anniversary of the Battle of Maldon in 991 AD, and pre-booking is advised to view it.

The centre is open between 11am and 4pm on Tuesdays to Saturdays.

Entry is free.
