MALDON District Council (MDC) members are to vote on an application to put in side-by-side 'drive thru' ordering lanes at the McDonald's restaurant in Fullbridge.

The proposal includes: "Reconfiguration of drive thru lane to accommodate side-by-side ordering, including associated works to the site."

'Associated works' include alterations to elevations - to include a new "folded roof" concept - minor extensions to pay and collect booths, relocation of the shopfront entrance with new sliding doors and the installation of two digital customer ordering points with overhead canopies and a 'goal post' height restrictor.

Council officers recommend approval of the plans, noting the loss of the play area but pointing out that those facilities were not part of the original approval for the site. Similarly, some picnic tables will be lost, but are described as 'under utilised' and the removal of these was considered acceptable in 2016.

The new roof will be khaki and there will be landscaping to screen the site, too.

MDC's Central Area Planning Committee will decide on the plans next Wednesday (28 July).
