Residents in Maldon are being encouraged to join the town mayor at his upcoming charity events, which will allow guests to enjoy evenings of entertainment while raising money for local causes.

The events will be held in aid of the two charities Councillor David Ogg has chosen to support during his year of office - The Sea-Change Sailing Trust and Churches Together.

The Sea-Change Sailing Trust offers sailing barge experiences to young people with disabilities, who are experiencing social exclusion or who are challenged by traditional educational settings.

Churches Together is the network of Christian Churches in Maldon, which played an instrumental role in coordinating the voluntary pandemic response in the district.

Councillor Ogg will be holding an opera evening next Saturday (30 October) in aid of the charities at Maldon Town Hall on Market Hill.

Doors will open at 6.45pm for a 7pm start.

Tickets cost £25 per person which includes lasagne - a vegan option is available.

Katie Bingham-Best and Stephen Foster-Pilkington will sing popular arias for guests, including influential works by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Purchase tickets by contacting the town council at 01621 857373 or [email protected].

Then, on Saturday 13 November, there will be a Las Vegas casino night at the town hall.

The fantastic night of magic, roulette and blackjack will include a licensed bar.

Doors will open at 7pm and tickets, which cost £15 per person for entry, are available here.

The entertainment continues into 2022, as there will be a charity quiz night on Friday 4 February at the town hall.

Starting at 7.30pm, enter as a team of a six and enjoy fish and chips while you participate.

For further information and to buy tickets, contact the town council at 01621 857373 or [email protected].
