TWO men were arrested yesterday evening (Tuesday, 16 June) on suspicion of drug supply offences as part of an ongoing operation in Heybridge, Maldon police have revealed.

The operation has involved both plain clothed and uniformed officers and comes after police received "numerous reports" of drug dealing around Plantation Hall in recent months.

Last night, Maldon's Community Policing Team took action after noticing two men acting suspiciously in a car.

A police spokesperson said: "Following the use of stop and search powers under the Misuse of Drugs Act, a large quantity of cash and uncut white powder believed to be class A drugs was recovered.

"We rely on information provided to us by our communities to allow us to act. Often if it's not reported we won't know about it.

"If there is drug dealing going on in your neighbourhood, please report this online."
