Since opening in the town centre in July last year, Staycations Maldon has been offering guests luxury self-catering apartments with restaurants, bars and shops right on their doorstep.

The Bright and Byrhtnoth suites currently available to book are fitted to suit a range of needs.

They are designed to retain the history of the Grade II listed Kings Head Centre in which they are situated, which dates back to 1522 and has been lovingly preserved by director James Mann to ensure that its original features can be enjoyed by guests.

Take a look at what the apartments offer.

Bright Suite

The Bright Suite is named after the infamous "fat man of Maldon", Edward Bright – a 44 stone, 18th-century grocer who lived on Maldon High Street.

The roomy apartment features the building's original oak beams and has beautiful antique furniture.

The king size four poster bed is equipped with a high-quality mattress, cotton sheets, duvets and pillows.

The apartment also has a stunning dining room which has been designed to transform into a conference room - media points come out of the middle of the table and can connect to a screen on the wall for presentations or video conferences.

Byrhtnoth Suite

The Byrhtnoth Suite is named after the Ealdorman of Essex, who died on 11 August 991 during the Battle of Maldon and is the subject of a historical landmark in the town - the statue at the end of Promenade Park.

The one-bedroom apartment accommodates up to five people and includes an ensuite alongside a double sofa bed and a single sofa bed in the living room.

It would suit a family vacating for a short break in Maldon, an extended staycation for two or for a bridal suite.

It has all the characteristics of the Bright Suite, including the exposed beams and antique furniture, with even more room.

The rooms are self-catering but can accommodate cleaning and additional services upon request.

They come with special touches, free of charge, to make guests feel at home.

Guests are provided with complimentary port as a nightcap, dressing gowns, slippers and toiletries.

They can also enjoy various teas and coffees as well as cereal and locally-sourced jams, honey and marmalade.

Short and long breaks are available.

Staycations Maldon has one more apartment to open - the D'Arcy Suite - which will be available to book soon.

You can book one of the apartments by calling staff directly on 07936 532114, via Bookings.com here or Airbnb here.
