Maldon Film Club hopes to re-open its doors at The Town Hall in May

MALDON Film Club is planning to open its doors again to members on Wednesday, 26 May - providing the journey out of lockdown continues as planned.

The film to be screened is Free Solo. The second film on Tuesday, 8 June, will be Balloon. Both films will be screened twice, once in the afternoon starting at 2.30pm and again in the evening with a start time of 7.30pm. Screenings will be offered to 2019/20 members only and will be free of charge.

Given that the audience for each screening will be limited to 30 seats, tickets will have to be booked in advance and the Film Club committee has put together a simple and accessible booking system. Further details will follow in the very near future. If any further screenings are planned details will be announced well in advance.

The 2021/22 season is currently scheduled to begin on Tuesday, 7 September 2021 and the 19 films to be screened will be those selected for the current season including A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood, Bait, White Crow, Pain and Glory, Sorry We Missed You, Parasite, Jojo Rabbit and

a Taste of Honey.

Spokesman for Maldon Film Club, John Salisbury, said: "The programme, which includes six films which were given Oscar, BAFTA or Golden Globe awards and six which received at least one Oscar nomination, will be entertaining, wide ranging and diverse and as always there will be something for everybody.

"The committee of Maldon Film Club continues to meet regularly and revise and update its plans in the light of the most recent Government Covid-19 guidance. In addition, a risk assessment of the Town Hall has been completed to ensure that not only all guidelines will be observed, but that once again members will be able to watch and enjoy the films selected in a safe and secure environment.

"On behalf of the committee may I send best wishes to all those associated with Maldon Film Club. We look forward to re-opening our doors in the not too distant future and to the return of one of Maldon's most successful, and well-supported community groups."
