BBC Essex will once again be supporting Maldon Mud Race at this year's event, with two presenters even racing.

The team will take over a stage at Maldon Promenade Park for the day to chat, play a few bangers and entertain.

Matt Mackay from BBC Essex said, "We're happy to support this incredible local community event. It's free to attend, and we love getting involved and having fun with spectators and crowds.

"We've two members of our team running - presenters Jodie Halford and Akylah Rodriguez from the Afternoon programme and are both looking forward to the challenge.

"Jodie has always wanted to take part having been a spectator for a number a years... Akylah on the other hand, took a bit more convincing! "

Ben Fryer will host the stage with Jake Peach and the BBC Essex team can't wait to be back at Promenade Park.

Ben said, "There will be great music throughout the day including soul legend Irie J and a host of local performers.

Ben and I will be checking in at BBC Essex throughout the day plus we'll update online and on social media. It's an incredible fundraising event that's free for spectators to attend, with plenty of artisan food and drink, as well as the colourful spectacle of over 350 entrants in fancy dress challenging themselves in the mud!".

Maldon Mud Race Chairman, Brian Farrington said, "Without the support of BBC Essex it would be much harder to have such a great stage and entertainment and they are a big part of our day.

"We try every year to improve the experience for visitors and raise even more money and we are so grateful to Matt Mackay, Ben Fryer, Jake Peach, Jodie and Akylah and all the team at BBC Essex for the support they provide in the Park from 10 am until 5 pm."
