Biker rider seriously injured in accident at junction

The Essex Air Ambulance was deployed to fly an injured motorcyclist to hospital after a crash near Maldon today (Saturday, 10 Seotember).

The incident happened on the A414 Maldon Road, near to the junction with Tom Tit Lane, where the emergency services were called from 10am after the bike rider was in collision with a truck and received serious injuries.

Maldon Road was closed as a result, in both directions, as emergency services dealt with the incident.

An Essex Police statement said: "We were called today at around 10am on Saturday, 10 September following reports of a collision on the A414 near to the junction with Tom Tit Lane in Maldon.

"A motorcycle had been in collision with a truck and the rider suffered serious injuries. He was flown to hospital where he remains in a serious condition. Officers closed the road for a short time while they dealt with the collision and they are continuing to investigate the circumstances."
