A black tie night in Burnham-on-Crouch next month aims to save lives in the name of Liam Taylor, who was stabbed to death outside a Writtle pub in January 2020.

All money raised at the black tie casino event, which is being held on 19 February at Bistro on the Quay in Burnham, will go towards the Liam Taylor Legacy Fund.

The fund was set up by the family of Liam, who was just 19 years old when he died, to buy bleed kits to save the lives of people in need of urgent care.

Bleed kits can provide immediate intervention to stop people from bleeding to death before paramedics arrive on the scene of an incident.

They cost £97.99 each.

Several bleed kits have already gone into venues across the district and its surrounding areas - including the Queen Vic, Tesco and Morrison's in Maldon - thanks to the fund.

Claire Payne, who manages the On the Quay businesses, said: "All monies raised will go towards buying life-saving bleed packs, one of which will be donated to us and, in turn, we will find a suitable placement for it.

"Please please support a fabulous cause."

Tickets cost £20 each for the event, which will take place on Saturday, 19 February at Bistro on the Quay.

The price includes $10 in play money, a drink on arrival and nibbles.

More play money can be purchased during the evening.

Guests can arrive at 7pm, and the tables will open at 8pm.

Claire said: "We will also be looking for raffle prize donations in the run-up to the event, so if anyone can donate anything it would be greatly appreciated."

To book and for more details, call Claire on 07908 279751.

The Liam Taylor Legacy Fund is also a nominee in the Asda Foundation Green Token Giving Scheme, which you can view here.
