A MAN and a woman have been sprayed in the face with an unknown substance during a burglary in Latchingdon, near Maldon.

The intruders - three men wearing tracksuits and with their faces covered – also carried out a further attack on the man at a house in Lower Burnham Road at around 10.30pm yesterday (Friday, 21 August).

The burglars made off with jewellery stolen from the address.

The victims suffered irritation to their eyes, but do not have life-threatening or life-changing injuries.

Essex Police are now appealing for any information on the crime, including anyone who may have seen anything suspicious in the area or anyone with CCTV or dash cam footage that could be helpful, to come forward.
