Young skaters took to their boards yesterday as the new Burnham-on-Crouch skatepark was officially opened (May 29).

Cllr Ron Pratt, Vice-Chairman of Maldon District Council, officially opened the new Riverside Park attraction.

He was joined by the Mayor of Burnham, Cllr Doug Brown, as well as Cllr Vanessa Bell, Council staff and partners.

Several young skaters enjoyed testing out the park, with staff from Team Rubicon running sessions to teach them the ropes.

One of three skateparks to open this year as part of the council's Section 106 Youth Facilities Programme, a spokesperson called the Riverside Park Skatepark opening an "exciting milestone."
