Burnham: Council to celebrate skatepark opening with free learning event

Maldon District Council have organised an official opening event to celebrate the completion of the new skatepark in Burnham-on-Crouch.
The event, which will take place on Thursday May 29, will feature a series of free beginner skateboarding sessions led by Team Rubicon, a renowned skateboarding provider.
Sessions will run from 10am to 12pm, 1pm to 3pm, and a special session aimed at encouraging female skaters into the sport from 3pm to 4pm.
The new Riverside Park facility was constructed by Bendcrete Skatepark as part of the Council's Section 106 Youth Facilities Programme, and sits on the footprint of the old skatepark and play area.
The area is set to become a vibrant hub for local skateboarders and the wider community.
Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, expressed his enthusiasm for the new skatepark, stating, "We are thrilled to see the completion of the Riverside Park skatepark.
"This project represents a significant investment in our community, providing a fantastic new facility for our young people and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. We look forward to welcoming everyone to the official opening event and seeing the skatepark become a popular destination for skaters of all ages and abilities."
The new skatepark is part of a district-wide initiative that has seen the construction of a brand-new skatepark at West Maldon Community Centre, and will see the complete overhaul and upgrade of the skatepark at Promenade Park in Maldon later this year.
