BURNHAM-on-Crouch musician, promoter, journalist, blogger and British Blues Awards-nominated broadcaster Tim Aves is bringing the blues back to Maldon's airwaves from Monday, May 31 – with a twist.

Tim will be hosting a new show on Maldon district's Caroline Community Radio at 94.7FM.

Favourite blues tunes from Tim's enormous music collection will be at the heart of the Blues+ playlist, but don't be surprised also to hear the odd rock, folk-roots or country tune.

Tim has lived in Burnham for more than four decades and is a well-known (some would say notorious) figure on the local music scene and in the wider British blues world.

A 40-year veteran of thousands of gigs all over the UK and occasionally, further afield, he fronted the legendary Essex r'n'b outfit Automatic Slim and several other successful bands, including The Rockin' Armadillos and Tim Aves & WOLFPACK.

Between 2000 and 2007, Tim presented the popular specialist music show, The Blues is Back! on Saint FM, earning a worldwide audience and four Blues Broadcaster of the Year nominations in the British Blues Awards.

Tim was also one of the team which organised Burnham's Riverfest music and arts festival for the best part of two decades. These days, he promotes the Blues at the Barns festival at Creeksea, is co-proprietor of Rooks Yard Recording Studio, Southminster (you can find the Rooks Yard website at the link here and writes the 43 Guitars and Counting... guitar blog (you can find the link to that here.)

  • The edition of Blues+ will go out on Monday between 10pm and midnight on Caroline Community Radio at 94.7FM. Subsequent shows will be broadcast on the second Monday of the month, with a repeat two weeks later.
