Burnham pupils enjoy ‘fascinating’ trip to Parliament with MP

School children from a primary school in Burnham-on-Crouch enjoyed an action-packed day out to Parliament last week (March 10).
Year Six pupils from St Mary's Church of England School travelled up to London by coach, before receiving a guided tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.
They later met with Maldon MP, Sir John Whittingdale, to chat about his job, politics, and even his favourite football team.
A spokesperson for St Mary's C of E Primary School, said: "The children of St. Mary's C of E Primary School were extremely fortunate to visit the Houses of Parliament as guests of Sir John Whittingdale.
"They found the experience truly fascinating and were captivated by the history of the building and the historical figures that have been associated with this world-famous landmark.
"They then met with Sir John in one of the committee rooms, who answered their wide-ranging questions with sensitivity and thoughtfulness.
"They all had a fabulous day and have not stopped talking about the trip since returning to school. We are very grateful to Sir John and his team for organising the visit."

Sir John Whittingdale MP added: "I was delighted to welcome the Year 6 pupils of St Mary's Church of England School, Burnham on Crouch, to Westminster.
"Having organised for them to tour Parliament, I enjoyed asking their questions and was most impressed by the wide range of issues that they raised.
"These ranged from house-building in Burnham and the state of the roads through to why I became a MP and what football team I support.
"It is always a great pleasure to help arrange for local schools to visit and I would encourage them to get in touch if they would like to do so."
