ESSEX Police Marine Unit, based at Burnham-on-Crouch, have launched a new operation to tackle anti-social behaviour on the area's waters.

The initiative - called Operation Wavebreaker - was launched on Saturday (24 April) and in the first weekend saw officers stopping some jet skis off Brightlingsea and educating the riders about the local by-Laws and speed limits.

Following the launch, a spokesperson for Essex Police Marine Unit, based in Station Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, said: "Today we launched Operation Wavebreaker. This will tackle Anti-Social Behaviour on our coast through engagement, education and enforcement.

"We are working with our local authorities to make the water safer for all our marine community."
