A CAMPAIGN group has started up a crowdfunding page to commission specialist consultants to produce a report on the likely impact of proposed development on the Burnham Road.

A spokesperson for The Woodham Infrastructure Group said: "We have started a crowdfunding venture primarily with the aim of raising money for a detailed highways report from a specialist highways/transport/planning consultancy as we have been told that this is the next step to take."

The group has highlighted concerns that a new roundabout and multiple pedestrian crossings on Burnham Road could cause traffic chaos for Maldon district drivers.

The Essex Highways proposals are for the part of Burnham Road that currently runs along the northern perimeter of South Woodham Ferrers, but which will bisect the town when planned new development of up to 1,200 new homes is complete.

The campaigners believe the plans will cause delays not only for residents of South Woodham Ferrers (SWF), but for many people driving to and out of the Dengie area.

The group wants Essex Highways to reconsider its proposals for roads in the area and build a new northern bypass for SWF "for the sake of the town's residents and workers and those from the Dengie".

There are details of the crowdfunding page on The Woodham Infrastructure Group's website at the link here.
