A local radio station has announced it will broadcast live from the south of France next week.

Chelmer Radio DJ Roger Cutting will present his afternoon show from the city of Perpignan, from Tuesday 2 until Friday 5 August. He will delve into the area and its culture.

Roger told Nub News what makes these upcoming shows so special: "Usually my show features local content from Essex – highlighting events and what is happening on our patch mixed in with the very best light and easy favourites.

"My four shows from France will aim to paint a picture of beautiful Perpignan which is situated about as far south as you can go in France. In its history, it has been ruled by Spain – even today there is plenty of evidence of this in its buildings and culture, and even its language.

"My shows will explore the culture, food and drink along with what there is to see in this beautiful sun-kissed Mediterranean city. I can't wait to take my show on the road."

David Baker, CEO of Chelmer Radio, said: "The station is seeing some serious growth in its audience with more and more people latching onto the station we always try to do exciting things and we are looking forward to hearing what Roger gets up to out there."

He added that the station is currently planning another outside broadcast from the Irish capital of Dublin later this year.
