Members and supporters of the Ironworks Meadow Nature Reserve got together last week to receive cheque from the Tesco Stronger Starts Scheme.

The scheme enables shoppers to put their Tesco visits to charitable use, offering them the opportunity to take a blue, circular token from the till and vote on a local charity to win some funding.

The reserve received a £1500 cheque, awarded by Maldon Tesco Community Champion Rhiain Oakley.

The next event at the award-winning nature reserve will be the Family and Community Nature Day on Sunday, June 22 starting at 10am. The day will be action-packed, featuring nature hunts, pond-dipping and more.

A variety of species of birds, mammals, and reptiles frequent the site, making it the perfect location for a peaceful day out surrounded by nature.

You can find the reserve along the canal path from the Maldon Tesco Extra car park, with more information on how to reach it available here.
