SIXTY restaurants, cafes, coffee houses and pubs within five miles of Maldon town centre have registered for the Government's Eat Out to Help Out scheme.

From today (Monday, 3 August) diners eating out between Mondays and Wednesdays - right through until the end of the month – will get 50 per cent off their bill, up to a maximum of £10 per person, at any of the eating places taking part. The discount applies to food and non-alcoholic drinks only.

The scheme has been designed to help the hospitality sector in its recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Ylli Vata, owner of The New Pavilion Restaurant in The Square, Heybridge, said: "We are hoping the scheme will help to encourage more members of the community to enjoy eating out again, with the new safety measures in place, and support their local restaurants."
