Essex Police thank residents of Bradwell-on-Sea for support at road blocks after stopping beach music event
POLICE have thanked the residents of Bradwell-on-Sea for supporting them yesterday (Wednesday, 13 August) as they managed road blocks to stop people travelling to an unauthorised beach music event.
The force had found out about the beach party, planned for yesterday evening, just yesterday morning and had swooped to arrest two people and seize a car, generator and music equipment.
One of the vehicles turned around at the road block was a coach containing more than 30 would-be revellers. It is believed that a second coach carrying partygoers to the beach from Stratford, east London, returned home mid-route after learning that police had got to the intended destination before they did.
The people of Bradwell-on-Sea were praised by police for their response after many supported officers at the road blocks by bringing them refreshments in the hot weather.
Chief Superintendent Glen Pavelin said: "I'd like to express my gratitude to the people who travelled to my officers to give them water and other refreshments.
"Your generosity has gone a long way. Thank you."
Two people remain in custody on suspicion of conspiracy to commit a public nuisance.
