The Hythe in Maldon all ready for filming back in March

FILM crews were spotted in North Fambridge again yesterday (Thursday, 1 July) for more takes for The Essex Serpent.

The filming of the TV drama, based on Sarah Perry's award-winning novel, created a lot of excitement throughout Maldon district at the end of March when a number of settings in Maldon town, Maldon Prom, North Fambridge and Tollesbury were used - and film sets, crews and actors became quite a commonplace sight for a while.

However, it is believed the latest return of the crews to North Fambridge this week has been a very limited expedition of a couple of days for some retakes.

The Essex Serpent follows newly widowed Cora (played by Claire Danes) who, having been released from an abusive marriage, relocates from Victorian London to the small village of Aldwinter in Essex, intrigued by a local superstition that a mythical creature known as the Essex Serpent has returned to the area.

The drama will be aired on Apple TV - most likely in the autumn, though dates are yet to be confirmed.
