Essex Police's speed enforcement officers have detected 1599 speeding offenders in just 3 months.
Across April and July, Essex Police employed Trucam devices used to detect speeding motorists in 107 locations across the county in their efforts to deliver on commitments to tackling road safety and speeding on motorways.
Sites were chosen strategically at speeding hotspots and connecting networks of fast roads.
Roads such as the A13, A12 and M25 had a Trucam device implemented, as well as a number of residential areas.
Officers clocked a top speed of 106 mph on a 70 mph fast road, while one driver was captured doing 66 mph in a 30mph zone, over double the residential areas limit.
The Speed Enforcement Officers work alongside Essex Police's road policing unit and are dedicated to tackling road crime which poses danger to the community and all road users.
The Road Crime and Safer Essex Roads Operational Coordinator, Samantha Wright, said: "Speed Enforcement Officers play an important role in carrying out enforcement of traffic offences as they have proved over the last few months.
"Their Community engagement and liaison with road safety partners helps us to direct our policing activities to where they are needed most and to provide reassurance to the public in areas where speeding has been raised as a concern."
Speed Enforcement Officers' work supports Essex Police's vision zero – the h aim to have zero road deaths by 2040 by reducing risk to road users and educating drivers to make better decisions
The role was created last year to combat dangerous road offences.
