The firework display, which typically marks the end of Burnham Week, is set to go ahead this year after the regatta was postponed due to Covid last year.

The details emerged in a town council meeting on Tuesday evening (20 July), when Councillor Bob Calver said: "I expect open-air events to be OK by the start of September."

The firework display can be viewed on the Quay, and is free for everyone.

Burnham Week, which offers eight days of racing for visitors and residents, is set to take place from 28 August to 4 September this year.

The regatta will raise money for the Essex Air Ambulance.

Organisers cancelled the event last year as Covid restrictions were too tight to allow it to take place.

Councillor Calver also said that the cocktail party is likely to go ahead. He said that 100 people attended the Burnham Week cocktail party in 2019.

He proposed that the council offer £500 or 50% of the cost of the reception - whichever is cheapest.

Councillor Kelvin Coles seconded the proposal, which was unanimously voted through by the coucillors.
