From Subway to a new pub. Plan put in for Maldon High Street change

PLANS have been agreed to convert a former Subway outlet on Maldon High Street into a new pub.
The former food outlet is set to be converted into a pub called Craft Beer Maldon after if plans are approved.
The plans include creating a new bar area with seating, a small kitchen area, new toilets, and a cellar area.
On the first floor, an additional toilet and store room will be added, and the existing seating area will be refurbished.
The proposed opening hours are 11am until midnight from Sunday to Thursday and 11am to 1am on Friday and Saturday. The site is between the British Heart Foundation shop and Wenlock's Furnishings and is within the town's conservation area, with listed buildings nearby.
The plans state: "The proposal would not detrimentally affect the historic and architectural character of the area or the nearby Listed Buildings; the proposal does not cause any detrimental impact to the character or appearance of the area in accordance with Maldon Council's planning policy.
"The proposed bar will include the selling of bar snacks."
The council officer's report states: "The proposal would result in the loss of the now closed Subway unit in the town centre; however, it would result in a new use which falls within the main town centre uses as set out in the national planning policy framework.
"As such, it would preserve the function, viability, and vitality of the primary retail area.
"The development is acceptable in terms on impact on character and appearance, neighbouring amenity and parking. It is considered acceptable and in accordance with the aims of the development plan."
