GCSE Results Day 2022: Ormiston Rivers Academy Principal praises students for their ‘exceptionally hard work’

Students at Ormiston Rivers Academy in Burnham-on-Crouch are celebrating their GCSE results this morning (August 25), as they prepare for the next stage in their education.

Staff and students have come together to mark the achievements of GCSE students, who have worked 'exceptionally hard' over the past couple of years.

Jo Williams, Principal at Ormiston Rivers Academy, said: "We are absolutely delighted with these results and are so pleased for our students, who have worked exceptionally hard to achieve these great outcomes after a difficult few years.

"I am sure that these results will stand them in good stead for whatever their future journeys bring."

Alongside the continued success of the academy, which is sponsored by Ormiston Academies Trust (OAT), some particular individual highlights include:

  • Aidan, who achieved Grade 9 in English Literature, Maths, Biology and Chemistry, Grade 8 in Physics, Grade 7 in History and French, Grade 6 in English Language and double Merit award in Food
  • Amelia, who achieved Grade 9 in Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Grade 8 in English Language and English Literature, Grade 7 in History and French and double distinction in Food
  • Milly, who achieved Grade 9 in English Language, English Literature, History and Religious Studies, Grade 7 in Maths, French and Double Science and Distinction in Performing Arts
  • Ellen, who achieved Grade 9 in Geography, Maths, Biology and Chemistry, Grade 8 in English Language, History and Physics, Grade 7 in English Literature and Distinction in Music Performance
  • William, who achieved Grade 9 in Physics, Grade 8 in Biology, Chemistry, French and Maths, Grade 7 in History and English Language, Grade 6 in English Literature and double Distinction award in Engineering
  • Millie, who achieved Grade 9 in English Language and History, Grade 8 in English Literature, Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Physics, Grade 7 in French and Distinction in Performing Arts.

The Academy says the majority of its subjects produced 'positive progress', with many students achieving over half a grade or more above their target.

Last Thursday (August 18) A-Level students at Ormiston Rivers Academy celebrated their 'amazing' achievements.
