Residents of Holloway Road, Maypole Road and Langford Road have been warned of disruption due to temporary road closures and deep excavations near the mini roundabout.
In a letter to residents, TriConnex, the company contracted to carry out the works, informed residents that they will commence on July 25, ending on September 4. The hours of operation are expected to be confirmed with Essex Highways next week.
Gavin Hawes, Operations Manager at TriConnex, told Nub News: "Unfortunately, there will be disruption – it's unavoidable.
"Unfortunately, there will be disruption – it's unavoidable."
"A diversion route will be put in place, advised by the local authority.
"It will be in place for the six-week duration of the works."
The works are being carried out to provide gas, electricity and water to the new Westcombe Park residential development being built nearby. As this requires open excavations, temporary road closures will be in place.
A point of connection for the water main will be installed in Langford Road, while a point of connection for a new gas main will be installed in Holloway Road.
The mains will be taken approximately 300 metres up Maypole Road to the development.
Closures will be in place on Maypole Road up to the new site, and from the mini roundabout heading west on to Langford Road, until the turning for Crescent Road. Another closure will be in place for approximately 43 metres along Holloway Road, up to the first bus stop.
Those heading to Maldon from Wickham Bishops and other nearby villages will be affected.
Despite the road closures, residents will still be able to get in and out of their homes throughout the day, as they will mostly affect the area surrounding the mini roundabout.
There will be TriConnex staff 'manning' the road closures at all times, to assist those confused by the diversion, and to assist residents living within the works area. Any barriers put in place will be moved so that those living in the area can get in and out of their homes.
Residents with queries regarding the works have been asked to contact Mr Hawes at TriConnex's Head Office on 01376 332680.
If you are a resident of any of the affected roads, please get in touch here to share your views on the closures.
