A landmark Grade II listed building built by historic Heybridge-based company E H Bentall and Co. is up for auction on 25 March.

The heritage building was built as a warehouse for the renowned agricultural equipment firm in 1863 and sits gracefully at the side of the Chelmer and Blackwater Navigation, now converted to offices.

The main building is listed on the Historic England website with a description of its "buff stock bricks and low-gabled slate roof", "four storeys with attics" and "window bays defined by full-height pilasters".

It is listed as "lot 16" for the sale date with auctioneers Acuitus and includes the office building and two separate warehouse buildings, providing around 74, 792 sq ft of floor space on a 1.67-acre site.

The auction house website states that Rockwell Automation Limited has been in occupation since 1982.

The building is also described as having "potential residential conversion of office building and residential redevelopment of warehouse buildings, subject to consents".

The rent currently generated by the site is specified as £449,456 per year and the guide price of the lot is £5m to £5.25m.

The auction will be live-streamed and details can be viewed on the Acuitus website using the link here.
