Maldon Council is launching a new community hub offering a range of advice and support to local residents.

The Maldon District Community Hub, a joint project established by Maldon Council in conjunction with One Maldon District – a partnership of organisations working to improve the lives of local people – will host its first event on Wednesday, 15 November.

The first of four events which have been organised so far will follow the theme of 'Winter Pressures'. Between 10am and 1pm, visitors will be able to access support services without the need to book an appointment.

Support will be available for those seeking advice on housing and benefits entitlements, employment queries and health and wellbeing guidance. Those attending will also have the opportunity to participate in activities.

At the November 15 event, the Tri-Service Community Officer for 'home safety' Les Davis will be hosting a talk covering a wide range of topics from 11am.

Leader of Maldon District Council Richard Siddall (Maldon District Independent Group, Great Totham) said: " I am pleased that the One Maldon District partnership is working together to deliver the community hub at our offices.

"I am sure residents will take up the regular opportunity, to just drop in for help and support, especially at this time when it is much needed."

Jane Gardner, chair of One Maldon District Partnership, said that she is "delighted" to be opening the community hub.

"The hub is a place where residents can come to get help and support with a wide range of issues. We know that life can be tough for some people, and we want to make it as easy as possible for them to get the support they need."

Three future community hub days will take place on December 13, January 15 and February 21 under the respective themes of 'climate action', 'health and wellbeing' and 'community safety'.
