IN PICTURES: Quay Day 2024
Hundreds headed to the Burnham-on-Crouch riverside yesterday (Monday, August 26) to enjoy a swashbuckling Bank Holiday.
Burnham Week, a week of sailing races organised by the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, kicked off with a pirate-themed community celebration yesterday - Quay Day.
The Anchor Hotel and Studio on the Quay hosted a number of market stalls, selling a range of items from baked goods to jewellery to children's toys.
Live music rang out from outside The Anchor and Bistro on the Quay, with fabulous singers and guitarists adding to the hustle and bustle as hundreds wandered down the Quay.
Many crowded at the sea wall to gaze over the river, looking on as a number of dinghies tipped and glided over the water.
The Thames Sailing Barge returned for this year's Quay Day, a grand spectacle of Burnham's sailing history, offering those interested to come aboard.
As the day went on, the town transformed into the 'Carib-Burnham', as groups dressed in their best pirate garb took to the streets.
Children, families, adults - even pets, looked positively terrifying in head to toe pirate, sailor and sea monster dress.
The group, made up of mostly the Burnham and Blackwater Pirates, first sailed into town for a sing-song at the Royal Corinthian Yacht Club, before posing for photos and heading out to the pubs and restaurants.
As the day drew to a close, those still standing flocked to The Victoria Inn for a pirate-themed afterparty.
