The following is Limebrook u3a's June newsletter - with details of the group's meeting coming up this Friday (11 June) - and an open invitation.

Limebrook u3a has seen the successful launch of our Poetry Group with Liz Jones arranging the two initial meetings in the last month. Now that some activities are possible, we have a further three Interest Groups being added to the expanding offering to our members.

Howard Corlett is setting up the 10-pin bowling Group, Jane Cox will be getting the Knitting Group busy and I am also pleased to announce that Jane Hester is gathering members together for an Art Group.

For the second year running we held a Virtual AGM which was very well attended. The Committee and Interest Groups are preparing an exciting programme for the 2021/2022 year. Keith Parrott our Treasurer confirmed that we are in a sustainable financial position.

Prior to the AGM we watched Paul Robbins presenting a talk "The 60's - A decade of change." Did you know that the old white £5 note was still in circulation in 1961?

Paul Madge led the Walking Group on a circular route from the WMCC to Beeleigh and the Prom, where refreshments were taken before a return journey. It was very good for them to be together for the first time this year. More adventurous walks are planned in the coming months.

The Photograph of the Month was taken by Tim Stubbings with his entry "I for Insect ". He completed a double first by producing a photo fiddlers' image "I for Instrument" with his image of guitars. The caption for this is very appropriate. "The Older we get, the better we were".

In our Monthly Meeting on Friday the 11th of June we shall be watching Saffron Summerfield via a Zoom link. She is a highly respected international singer, composer, and sound artist with many interesting stories to tell. We are opening this meeting to guests, If you would like to attend or learn more about us, please contact our Membership Secretary Tim Stubbings on 01621 855158 for more details or visit our website by searching for Limebrook u3a.
