BUSINESSES throughout Maldon district are preparing for lockdown and Maldon Nub News will bring you as many details as possible of what's available – so you can find the services you need and support local traders during the current crisis.

A number of shops in Maldon town centre are offering discounts and/ or extended opening hours in the run-up to lockdown. Many are offering different services during lockdown, including online services, take-away and click and collect.

Maldon Nub News has compiled a list of some of them here. Some are messages direct from them to you, their customers. This will be updated as more details come to us:

Townrow, High Street, Maldon: there is now a 20 per cent discount on all full price and reduced 'blue cross' items. The lockdown discount is on through to the end of Wednesday when the shop will be required to close for the duration of lockdown. The store has also extended its opening hours to 6pm each day until then.

Maldon's M&Co., High Street: the store will be open until 7pm on Tuesday (3 November) evening and is planning to stay open till 9pm on Wednesday. There are special discounts for loyalty card customers and extra sale bargains.

The Cake Supply Company, The King's Head Centre, Maldon:I am extending my hours until Thursday from 9am to 4pm instead of 10am to 3pm.I am hoping to do a form of click/phone and collect during lockdown. As I don't have a website at present customers can either phone, email or message me on Instagram or Facebook to place an order and then collect from the shop. Point Graphics, High Street, Maldon: will still be offering our usual high standard print capabilities. We will, however, be operating a system which worked well during the previous lockdown. Card payment can be arranged over the phone, and pick-up again from our door.

The Maeldune Heritage Centre, High Street, Maldon: We will be open Tuesday, 3 and Wednesday, 4 November from 11am to 4pm. Visitors should take the opportunity to see George Kowzan's exhibition, Blackwater Dreaming, and visit our craftshop with unique gifts, books by local authors and local produce. As custodians of The Maldon Embroidery we are busy planning events for 2021 to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the making of this masterpiece designed by Humphrey Spender. Maldon Society's Oral Listening Station has recently been updated with interesting stories from local people. The Pride of Maldon Rose display is also new with souvenir soap available to buy.

Following the Government's announcement the Centre will be closed from Thursday, 5 November until 2 December (or as soon as Government guidelines allow) when our Christmas Market will open as planned. The Centre is Covid-19 safe with social distancing, hand sanitisers, protective screen and regular cleaning programme in place.
