Live outdoor theatre set to come to Maldon tomorrow after 'a hard year for theatre'

By Charlotte Lillywhite 7th Sep 2021

Two live outdoor theatre productions are set to come to Maldon tomorrow (Thursday, 5 August).

The Museum of Power, based in Langford near Maldon, is hosting an open air theatre production of Robin Hood at 3pm and showing Jane Eyre at 7.30pm.

Essex-based theatre company DOT Productions is bringing the show to audiences, as part of its twelfth year of touring.

Louise Lindfield, a co-producer at DOT Productions, said: "We are so excited to bring both touring shows to The Museum of Power tomorrow.

"It's been a hard year for theatre and the cast are so pleased that they have the chance to perform in two different productions."

In the company's fast-paced adaptation of Robin Hood, Robin's gang will battle against the evil Sheriff of Nottingham and steal from the rich to give to the poor.

DOT Productions said: "Full of memorable characters, silliness and charm, this production is an hour of pure escapism which will leave all the family with a smile on their face."

The company will also bring Charlotte Brontë's classic novel to the stage in a new adaptation, which will track the cruelty of Jane's childhood to the passions and mysterious secrets of her adult life.

The company said: "Charlotte Brontë's bold and enduring novel is full of gothic drama and heart wrenching choices that translate onto the stage in a powerful production played out by 5 actors that is not to be missed."

Louise added: "Robin Hood is geared for the family audience - so lots of fun slapstick humour - and Jane Eyre is such a Gothic Classic that anyone will love watching it with the Museum of Power as a backdrop."
