In January, the KS1 Book Club, hosted by The Book Nook in Tollesbury, read the book Stella and the Seagull.

The book was about how waste affects our wildlife, and in this case a seagull. This book ignited a passion in the book club participants and they wanted to clear some of the waste from Tollesbury Sea Wall.

WIth the help of the staff at The Book Nook, the children organised a sea-wall clean up.

They made and distributed posters throughout the village and the staff at The Book Nook got in contact with Maldon District Council to use some litter picking equipment.

On 4 February, over 30 people were in attendance at the clean-up.

They walked the sea wall for just under an hour and collected over 6 black bags of rubbish.
