A beer festival for residents of Maldon and the Dengie will return next week, in efforts to bring people together while raising funds for a charity which supports children with disabilities.

Maldon and Dengie Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) will be holding its ninth South Woodham Ferrers Beer Festival from Thursday 9 October to Saturday 11 October.

Residents have been eagerly awaiting the announcement, after organisers were forced to cancel last year's festival due to the pandemic.

This year's festival will raise money for Brainwave - the charity helps children with disabilities access greater independence by aiming to improve their mobility, communication skills and learning potential with specialist therapies.

Attendees of the festival will be able to support the charity while enjoying 35 beers from local brewers - which include Mighty Oak and Crouch Vale - a selection of beers from further away and food.

The Maldon and Dengie group is one of the smallest branches of CAMRA, a national campaign group which represents beer drinkers and pub-goers across the UK.

It holds the beer and cider festival each year to showcase the best of British ales.

This year's festival will take place at South Woodham Ferrers Village Hall at 25 Hullbridge Road.

It will open to attendees from 4pm until 11pm on Thursday 9 October, and from midday until 11pm on Friday and Saturday.
