A BGT-featured choir has released a new single just in time for Christmas, with a number of local singers appearing on the record.

The BIG Sing went on hit ITV show Britain's Got Talent last year, wowing the judges after members "hid" in the audience to join in with the song.

Their new single If Love Could Just be Love is out now, with proceeds going to its SOUL charity.

In less than 24 hours, the song rose to number one in the iTunes chart.

The heart-warming single features over 350 voices and aims to compete with the likes of Mariah Carey this Christmas.

Choirs from all over Essex, Kent, London and Midlands recorded the song in Rugby in one day. It was written and produced by Musical Director of The BIG Sing. Howard Francis.

Co-founder and Director of The Big Sing, Gemma Francis said: "The song is what the world needs to hear right now. If love could just be love then the world would just be such a better place.

"Our whole message is about promoting love, faith and joy, and our prayer is that this song will make a massive impact in the societies we live in".

Maldon Choir Member, Linda Allen, told Nub News about the single and her experience in the choir: "I was amazed when I first heard the record.

"While we'd heard it when we recorded it, with the instrumental added it was just beautiful."

Linda has been involved in her local Big Sing Choir for 11 years, having joined after losing her husband.

Since then she has sung in the London Palladium and Royal Festival Hall, and has made many new friends.

"The thing we really love is when we do all the local gigs and we see all the kids and all the families getting involved. It's really wonderful." She added.

"We've got people in wheelchairs, people who've suffered serious illnesses and mental health problems, and they're all supported and absolutely love what they do.

"It is more than a choir, it is a family."

The BIG Sing have recently embarked on their Joy to the World Christmas Tour, where they will be visiting areas across the UK, from Liverpool to Romford.
