Maldon District Council has announced the return of free parking in the Town Centre in the run-up to Christmas.

Free parking will first be available at the town's annual Christmas Light Switch-On event 'Light Up Maldon', on Thursday November 28.

From 4pm you will be able to park your car free of charge at Friary Fields, Butt Lane, White Horse Lane and Promenade Park car parks.

The no-cost parking will also be provided in Maldon's Town Centre car parks from 2pm on December 5, 12, and 19, and all day on Christmas Eve.

Cllr Richard Siddall, Leader of Maldon District Council, said: "We are excited to bring back our Festive Free Parking scheme this year. This initiative not only supports our local businesses, but also encourages residents and visitors to enjoy all that Maldon has to offer. We hope this makes your Christmas shopping easier and any celebrations even more enjoyable."

Residents should note that normal charges will apply in Promenade Park in December.
