Maldon district: police appeal for information after Great Totham crash leaves two pensioners fighting for their lives

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses after a road accident in Great Totham left two pensioners in a life-threatening condition.

The local man and woman, both in their seventies, were seriously injured when the car they were travelling in left the road at around 11.10am today (Saturday, 9 April). The car - a grey Ford Focus Titanium -overturned following the incident in Mountains Road.

An Essex Police spokesperson said: "We would like to thank the members of public who tried to assist at the scene."

"We are keen to speak to any witnesses, anyone who may have seen the car driving prior to leaving the road, or who may have passed the car and has dash cam footage they can provide.

"If you can help with our enquiries please contact us and quote incident number 437 of 9 April."
