Maldon Festival has said that it is "delighted" to confirm that this year's finale weekend will take place from Friday, 17 September to Sunday, 19 September.

The festival took place over two weeks from 25 June earlier this year, but the final three performances were cancelled due to performers being required to self-isolate.

Now, the event is back stronger than ever - with extra entertainment to create a weekend festival for residents.

Organisers said: "In addition to the final concert of Bernstein's Chichester Psalms featuring the Choir of St Mary's, Maldon, accompanied by a new organ, we have added two extra items to create a festival weekend."

This extra entertainment consists of a concert of music for violin and organ and a special choral evensong.

The additional concert will be given by Krassimira Jeliazkova-Jones and Colin Baldy, featuring the famous Adagio by Albinoni alongside music by Bach.

The evensong will be given by the St James' Singers of Colchester, under the group's conductor Philip Prior.

The full programme is:

- Friday, 17 September, 7.30pm: Violin and Organ Recital

- Saturday, 18 September, 7.30pm: Bernstein Chichester Psalms etc

- Sunday, 19 September, 1pm: Free Lunchtime Organ Recital given by Matthew Foster

- Sunday, 19 September, 6pm: Festival Choral Evensong with the St James's Singers of Colchester

The events will be held in Maldon Festival's venue at St Mary's Church.

Tickets already purchased for July will be valid.

New tickets and full details of the programme can be found at the festival website using the link here.
