After a successful 17th season, during which most films received an approval rating of at least 70%, Maldon Film Club is already preparing for the new season, beginning Tuesday 6 September.

The programme for the 2022/23 season, which is heavily influenced by the members' votes, will continue to cover a wide variety of themes, with films from different regions of the world.

It opens with the recently released British film The Duke starring Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren.

Following that, the season continues until 24 May 2023 with films being shown fortnightly on Tuesdays in 2022, and Wednesdays in 2023.

The programme for 2022/23 also includes:

  • West Side Story
  • Belfast
  • The Father
  • The Rescue
  • Parallel Mothers
  • Drive my Car
  • Plus the classic Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, starring Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn and Sidney Poitier.

Many of the 19 films to be screened have received Oscar awards and/or nominations and, as usual, the programme will offer something for everybody.

Watch this space for further details of the programme for 2022/23 which will appear on Maldon Nub News in July.

The Club, which meets at the Maldon Town Hall, works on a membership basis. It is run by a committee who select and screen an annual programme of films from the best of recent English and foreign language releases, plus one "classic".

The price of an annual subscription is just £25, which entitles members to free admission to all the season's 19 films. That's less than £1.32 per film!

In addition, there are a limited number of places for junior members aged 16-18 in full time education and training at the reduced cost of £18.

As a member, you will be asked to give your reaction to the films you have seen and help the committee compile the programme for the following season. Membership is open to all, and new members will be made very welcome
