Maldon Film Club's current season continued in April with the screening of Decision to Leave and Women Talking.

Another very successful season comes to an end soon following the screening of Official Competition, May 8 and Living, May 22.

Official Competition - May 8

A billionaire businessman in search of fame and social prestige decides to make a unique, groundbreaking film.

To achieve this goal, he hires the best of the best: He hires a stellar team consisting of famous filmmaker Lola Cuevas (Penelope Cruz) and two well-known actors who boast not only an enormous talent, but also an even bigger ego, Hollywood star Félix Rivero (Antonio Banderas) and aging theatre thespian Iván Torres (Oscar Martinez).

They're both legends, but not exactly the best of friends. Through a series of increasingly hilarious tests set by Lola, Félix and Iván, they must confront not only each other, but also their own legacies.

Living - May 22

In this story set in London in the 1950s, civil servant Rodney Williams (Bill Nighy) is overwhelmed at work and lonely at home.

Suddenly his life takes a heartbreaking turn when a medical diagnosis tells him his time is short.

Influenced by a local decadent, Mr Sutherland (Tom Burke) and a vibrant woman, Miss Harris (Aimee Lou Wood), he continues to search for meaning until a simple revelation gives him a purpose to create a legacy for the next generation

Maldon Film Club's new season begins on Tuesday, September 10 and information about the 19 films to be screened will be available very soon.

Watch this space for further details as Maldon Film Club starts to prepare for its 20th season!

The club meets bi-weekly at Maldon Town Hall.
