Maldon's Mayor and Mayoress and the Deputy Mayor and his wife gathered quietly yesterday (Tuesday, 23 March) at the Moot Hall at 8pm to mark the anniversary of the first national lockdown.

The group of four held lit candles as the clock struck 8pm on the nationwide 'day of reflection'.

Maldon Town Mayor, Councillor Abdul Jhual Hafiz, said: "This has been an incredibly difficult year for all of us. My thoughts are with all those who have lost loved ones, and who have not been able to pay tribute to them in the way they would have wanted."

The Mayor attended with his wife, the Mayoress, and Deputy Mayor, Councillor David Ogg, with his wife.
