Maldon Mud Race confirms its return
The Maldon Mud Race is set to return to the town next year, after being cancelled twice due to the pandemic.
Organisers had planned to hold the famous race in August this year, after they had to cancel it in 2020.
But they were forced to cancel it once again in July, with just four weeks to go, due to continued uncertainty surrounding the Delta variant of Covid-19 and lockdown restrictions.
Organisers have now confirmed that the mud race will return to the town - on Sunday 24 April 2022.
The event, which is usually held at Promenade Park every year, attracts huge crowds to Maldon and raises thousands for local charities.
Chelmer Radio will once again be there as Adrian Fox and David Baker will be the hosts on the day, with live entertainment on stage plus warm-ups ahead of the race itself.
In a statement, the organisers said: "Now the clocks have gone back and left us with these dark old evenings, give yourself something to look forward to."
They added: "The Maldon Mud Race is back on Sunday 24 April 2022."
The event raises money for Essex and Herts Air Ambulance, Daniel Wilkinson Foundation, Brainwave, David Randall Foundation, Little Havens Hospice, The Cinnamon Trust, Maldon and District Sea Cadets, Farleigh Hospice and Action for Family Carers.

Entry costs £40 each.
