THE police and council officers have been working together after dark to tackle anti-social behaviour in Maldon district's parks.

The patrols took place after the issue was raised by members of the public.

Maldon's police team shared the news on their Facebook page.

A statement read: "We've been working alongside our colleagues from Maldon District Council after concerns were raised with us about anti-social behaviour in our parks and open spaces.

"During our patrols, we spoke to a number of young people and explained about the importance of keeping at least a two-metre distance from others to help protect themselves, their family and their friends from Covid-19.

"We also reminded some of those we came in contact with that we are no longer allowed to meet in groups of more than six either indoors or outdoors following the implementation of the recent Covid laws to reduce the spread of the virus.

"We would like to thank everyone who continues to take steps to protect themselves and others. It means we can continue to respond to the things that are causing you concerns and take action against those who cause harm to our communities."
