The injured cat: Maldon police team got the pet to an emergency vet where it was reunited with its owner

The Maldon police team showed their softer side yesterday evening (Tuesday, 8 December) after coming to the aid of an injured cat.

Officers found the poorly feline, which appeared to have been hit by a vehicle, during patrols in the South Woodham Ferrers area and rushed it to an emergency vet.

In a late-night Facebook post, the team said: "Whilst the team were conducting patrols in South Woodham Ferrers today, they came across a poorly cat that had been struck by a vehicle. The officer picked up the poorly feline and managed to get it to an emergency vet.

"Luckily the cat was microchiped and the owner was informed. We wish the cat a speedy recovery (we don't know it's name).

"We don't just catch criminals. Stay safe guys...and animals!"
