Maldon Rotary Club is set to hold its first plant sale in two years, outside All Saints Church in the High Street, this Saturday.

To raise money for the Rotary Club's Ukraine Appeal, volunteers will be selling a selection of plants and bedding plants grown by club members.

The sale will be open from 9am until 1pm, after a two-year absence due to Coronavirus restrictions.

Volunteers will also be holding a bucket collection to raise money for Ukrainian refugees.

A spokesperson for Maldon Rotary Club said: "We look forward to welcoming you back this Saturday, where you will find a wide range of plants, some exotic, at affordable prices."

Locals have been asked to drop by and donate some plants to the sale where possible.

Maldon Rotary Club's plant sale started more than 50 years ago. It was created by several club members, who pooled their home-grown plants in a table-top sale outside All Saints Church.

It soon grew to be a much-loved event in the Maldon calendar, raising more than £500 for local charities.

Last March, the Rotary Club held a collection for Ukrainian refugees. The public's response was so overwhelming that they decided to dedicate proceeds from this year's sale to the same cause.

Profits will once again be donated to the Disasters Emergency Committee, to ensure that the money reaches those who need it most.
